Last updated September 24, 2026 · Conformance target: WCAG 2.2 Level AA
A&V Pool Service is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who browse with screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or reduced motion settings. Pool care should be easy to arrange no matter how you use the web.
Our conformance target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That covers colour contrast, keyboard operation, screen reader labelling, text alternatives for images, predictable navigation, and control over motion. This is a self-declared target based on our own testing rather than a third-party certification, and we treat it as ongoing work rather than a finished box to tick.
Colour and contrast
Every text and background pairing on the site has been measured against the WCAG contrast formula, not judged by eye. Body and interface text meets at least 4.5:1 against its background, and large headings at least 3:1. Form field borders meet the 3:1 threshold for user interface components, so the edge of an input is visible to people with low vision. Where a colour failed - the pale blue used for section labels, the gold used for review stars, and the lightest end of the header gradient - we changed the colour rather than the standard.
Keyboard and focus
Every link, button, form field, menu and FAQ panel can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, in a logical order. Focus is always visible as a thick outline that changes colour to stay visible on dark backgrounds. A skip link at the top of each page jumps straight to the main content. Because the header stays fixed at the top of the screen, pages reserve space so a focused element is never left hidden behind it.
Structure and screen readers
Each page has one main heading and a properly nested heading structure, with header, navigation, main and footer landmark regions. The current page is marked in the navigation so screen reader users know where they are. Photographs carry descriptive alternative text; decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology. Review ratings are announced as text rather than as a row of star characters. The quote form labels every field, marks required ones, describes errors in words next to the field that caused them, and announces success or failure without moving focus unexpectedly.
Motion
The photograph on the home page drifts slowly. A Pause motion button sits in the corner of that image so anyone can stop it, and your choice is remembered while you browse. If your device or browser is set to reduce motion, the drift never starts at all and every other transition on the site is disabled automatically.
Text, zoom and small screens
Text can be enlarged to 200 percent in your browser without losing content or function, and the layout reflows down to a 320 pixel wide screen without horizontal scrolling. Fonts are served from our own server rather than a third party, so text renders immediately instead of flashing and shifting while a remote font loads.
Accessibility menu
Every page has an accessibility button in the bottom-right corner (or press Alt + A). It opens a menu that lets you adjust the site to suit you: one-tap profiles for seizure safety, low vision, ADHD, reading and cognitive support, keyboard navigation, screen reader use and older adults, plus individual controls for content scaling, font size, line height, letter spacing, a readable font, text alignment, highlighted titles, links and focus, dark, light and high contrast, saturation and monochrome, custom text, title and background colours, hiding images, muting sounds, stopping animations, a reading guide and a reading mask. The menu also switches the site between English and Spanish.
The menu was built for this site and does not load any outside service. Your choices are saved only in your own browser so they carry from page to page, and Reset Settings clears them. The menu is an extra convenience, not a substitute for the accessible design described above - the site is built to work fully without it.
Known limitations
Some photographs supplied to us have text rendered inside the image; where that happens the same information is written in the page text beside it. We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit, so this statement reflects our own testing only. If you rely on assistive technology and something does not work, please tell us - we would rather hear about it than not.
Assessment and feedback
This site was checked with keyboard-only navigation, programmatic contrast measurement of every text and background pair, and structural review of headings, landmarks and form labelling. Accessibility is ongoing work, and reports from real users are the most useful thing we receive. Call or text 954-691-6742 with any barrier you find and we will always take your service request by phone if the website gets in your way.
