Clean hot tub with clear water serviced by A&V Pool Service

Small water, fast chemistry

Hot tubs hold a fraction of a pool's water at a much higher temperature, so chemistry swings in hours instead of days. Left alone, that means cloudy water, biofilm in the jets and plumbing, and a scaled-up heater — especially with South Florida's hard water.

We service attached spas that share equipment with your pool and standalone hot tubs on a schedule that fits how often you use them. That includes full drain, scrub and refill cycles, filter care, and jet, pump and heater diagnostics.

Because we also handle pool maintenance and pool repair, one visit can cover the pool, the spa and the shared equipment.

Spa care basics

What keeps a hot tub healthy

Spas need more frequent attention than pools. These are the parts that matter most.

Regular drain and refill

Dissolved solids build up quickly in a small volume of hot water. Most home hot tubs need draining and refilling every few months, more often with heavy use.

Biofilm in the plumbing

A slimy layer can grow inside jets and pipes where sanitizer does not reach. We purge the lines before draining so the fresh water stays clean.

Filters

Spa filters clog fast. Rinsing them often and replacing them on schedule is the easiest way to keep the water clear.

Temperature

Most people enjoy 100–102°F, and 104°F is the widely recommended maximum. Hot water uses sanitizer faster, so chemistry needs checking more often.

Hard water scale

South Florida's calcium-rich water scales spa heaters quickly. Balancing calcium and pH protects the heater element.

Covers

A good cover saves heat and keeps out debris and rain. We clean and check covers and tell you when one has become waterlogged.

Easy spa habits

  • Shower before soaking

Lotions, oils and sunscreen use up sanitizer and cloud the water.

  • Keep the cover on

It saves heat and money and keeps rain and leaves out.

  • Rinse the filter

A quick hose-down every week or two keeps flow strong between deep cleans.

  • Shock after heavy use

After a party, a dose of shock clears the extra waste.

FAQ

Hot tub questions

How often should a hot tub be drained?

Most home hot tubs need a drain and refill every few months, and more often with frequent or heavy use. We set a schedule based on how much yours is used.

Why is my hot tub water cloudy?

Usually a dirty filter, low sanitizer or a build-up of oils and dissolved solids. If cleaning the filter and shocking does not fix it, it is time for a drain and refill.

Bromine or chlorine for a hot tub?

Both work. Bromine is popular for hot tubs because it stays effective at high temperatures and is gentler on smell. We balance whichever system you use.

What temperature should my hot tub be?

Most people are comfortable at 100–102°F. 104°F is the widely recommended maximum for adults.

Do you repair hot tub heaters and pumps?

Yes. We diagnose heaters, pumps, jets and controls, and tell you whether a repair or replacement makes more sense.

Can you service the spa and pool together?

Yes. If your spa shares equipment with the pool, we service both in the same visit.
