Lakeside wind and debris
Breezes off the lake carry leaves, grass and organic matter into the pool. Baskets and filters fill quickly, especially on lakefront lots.
Miami Lakes was laid out as a planned town by the Graham family, with neighborhoods wrapped around a chain of man-made lakes, curving streets and far more trees and shrubs than most of northwest Miami-Dade. Sections such as Loch Lomond, Royal Oaks and the homes around Lake Sarah went up in stages over several decades, so the pools range from original 1970s builds with diving wells to newer freeform pools with sun shelves and spas.
A great many backyards here open onto a lake. That view comes with its own pool chemistry: wind skims leaves, grass clippings and bits of aquatic vegetation off the water and drops them straight into the pool, and lawns sloping toward the lake are fertilized regularly. Phosphates and nitrates from that runoff are food for algae, so we test for phosphate on lakefront pools and treat it before it turns into a green weekend. Skimmer baskets on those properties fill faster than anywhere else on the route.
Mature oaks, palms and ficus hedges are part of the town's look, and many HOA sections expect them to stay that way. Under that landscaping, pools lose less water to evaporation but collect a steady load of leaves and seed pods. We brush walls and the tile line on every visit and clean cartridge and DE filters on a shorter cycle here. Many homes also have gated sections or HOA rules about service vehicles, which we plan around.

A skimmer basket packed with lake debris, green water after the landscaper fertilized, or a pump that has run since the house was built: we sort all of it out in Miami Lakes.

Lawns and planting beds sloping toward the pool leak nutrients into the water. We test phosphate and treat it so algae has nothing to eat.
Original pools with deep ends sit next to renovated ones with spas and automation. Each gets a plan that fits its equipment and plumbing.

Lakefront wind and heavy planting leave silt and leaves on the floor, so a full clean often comes first before weekly service can keep pace.

Many Miami Lakes pools still run original or twice-repaired pumps, filters and heaters, and we fix what is worth fixing.
Learn more →Oaks shed through late winter and early spring. We empty baskets and check filter pressure every visit during those weeks.
Heavy rain raises lake and pool levels together and washes lawn nutrients in. We rebalance after big storms and lower the water when needed.
Lakefront yards catch blown debris from the water and the trees. After a storm we clear the pool and inspect equipment before restarting it.

Wind carries leaves, grass and organic material off the lake into the pool, and yard runoff adds phosphates that feed algae. Lakefront pools in Miami Lakes need their baskets emptied, walls brushed and phosphate checked every week to stay clear.

Usually, yes. We check the pump, filter, plumbing and surface, repair what is sound and tell you plainly if a part is at the end of its life. Many older Miami Lakes pools run well for years with the right care.
