Full sun, rock ground and well water at the edge of the Everglades

Homestead sits at the far south of the county between farm fields, the Everglades and the road to the Keys. Lots are wider than in the northern suburbs and tree cover is thin, so most pools here sit in direct sun from morning to evening. That makes the water warm and inviting, and it makes chlorine disappear. Unstabilized chlorine can burn off in a few hours of Homestead sun, so we pay as much attention to cyanuric acid as we do to the chlorine number and dose for what the sun actually takes.

The housing is a patchwork. Around the historic downtown there are older homes with smaller, often original pools, while much of the rest of the city was rebuilt or newly developed after Hurricane Andrew in 1992, including large subdivisions and gated communities like Keys Gate with lakes and shared amenities. Newer pools here usually have pumps and heaters in good shape; older ones may have patched plaster, tired lights and plumbing that has seen a lot of years.

On the outskirts, many properties draw from private wells. Well water brings iron, manganese and hardness that stain plaster rust-brown or green-gray and scale up heaters and salt cells, which changes the whole treatment approach. The ground itself is porous limestone close to the surface, and nearby nurseries and groves send dust and fertilizer into the air that can feed algae. We test for these things instead of assuming city water.

What Homestead pools deal with

Intense, unshaded sun

With few trees on many lots, UV breaks down chlorine quickly. Proper stabilizer levels and steady dosing keep the pool sanitized through long, hot days.

Well water minerals

Iron and hardness from private wells cause staining and scale. We use sequestrants and adjust balance so metals stay in solution instead of on the walls.

Farm dust and nutrients

Wind across nearby fields and nurseries carries soil and fertilizer residue into pools, which feeds algae and clouds the water after dry, breezy days.

Through the year

A year of pool care in Homestead

  • Dry, windy winter

Clear skies and breezes mean strong UV and lots of blowing dust. We keep stabilizer in range and clean filters more often while the fields are being worked.

  • Summer rain

Heavy afternoon storms can overfill pools and dilute chemistry. We lower the water level when needed and rebalance quickly to keep algae from starting.

  • Hurricane season (Jun–Nov)

Homestead has the most storm exposure on our route. We help prep pools before a named storm and prioritize cleanup, equipment checks and restarts afterward.

Homestead FAQ

Questions from Homestead pool owners

Why does my Homestead pool lose chlorine so fast?

Mostly the sun. Without shade, UV breaks down chlorine within hours unless the water has enough stabilizer (cyanuric acid). We keep that level right and adjust dosing to match your pool's sun exposure.

We fill our pool from a well. Is that a problem?

It can be. Well water often contains iron and hardness that stain the finish and scale up equipment. We test for metals and treat the water so it stays clear and the surfaces stay clean.

Do you service pools in Keys Gate and the other gated communities?

Yes. We service private pools in Keys Gate and other Homestead subdivisions, and we can work with community management for shared amenity pools.

Can you help after a hurricane?

Yes. After a storm we clear debris, check equipment for water or wind damage and restart systems safely. Green pools and equipment failures are reached within 24–48 hours when possible.

Homestead is far from Pembroke Pines. Do you really come that far south?

We do. Homestead is on our regular weekly route, and you get the same technician each visit, just as customers closer to our headquarters do.

Which Homestead ZIP codes do you cover?

We cover 33030, 33031, 33032, 33033, 33034 and 33035, from the historic downtown to Keys Gate and the area around the Air Reserve Base. Call with your address to confirm your day.
